If a person could only use one word to describe you, what would you want them to say? Many people have said kind, nice or blessed; some might say beautiful; I would say intelligent or maybe ‘genius’ *shrugs I’m just sayin’. Along the same lines but a little different may be to answer the question:
What one attribute do people notice first about you?
When you think about it, most people will reveal that to you in both subtle and direct ways. For example, for me, people tend to notice my smile. Which still catches me off guard. I never realized how much I smiled until I heard people say things to me like: “you’re always smiling”, “I love your smile; it brightens my day!” I can even remember being at the doctor’s office when I was around 12. I wasn’t feeling well one morning, so I ended up there instead of school and the first thing the doctor said when he came in the room was, “I’ve never seen someone with a temperature of 104 smile so bright.” And with a big smile on his face he asked, “don’t you know you’re sick?” My smile comes from a place of joy and my joy comes from God. Unlike happiness, joy does not depend on your outward circumstance. But instead joy comes from an inward assurance.
When I think about the one attribute of God that resonates with my soul
…I can’t get around, I can’t get used to, I can’t get over the fact that He is FAITHFUL! He’s holy, He’s righteous, He’s all knowing, all powerful, ever present, worthy alone of all the praise, honor and glory. And in the midst of all of that, He. Is. Faithful even when I’m not. It’s the one thing that assures me of everything else about Him and I’m convinced He’s set on me knowing that about Him too.
Faithful isn’t what God does, it’s who He is:
Faithful that calls you 1 Thes 5:24
A faithful witness Rev 1:5
Faithful creator 1 Pet 4:19
Faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness 1 Jhn 1:9
The Greek word pistos translated into Faithful in each of these verses means:
A person who shows themselves faithful in the transaction of business, (forgiveness)
the execution of commands, (creator)
or the discharge of official duties; (who has called you)
worthy of trust (witness)
The bottom line is- at the beginning and end of everyday, I can put my trust in God knowing that He will always hold up His end of the bargain.
What attribute of God resonates with you the most?

Yeah, I agree Khe. God’s faithfulness is worth smiling about. I love the Hebrew word sometimes transliterated in English as “Khsed” (You have to make that Semitic language getting-popcorn-out-the-back-of-your-throat sound when you pronounce the “kh”). It means “faithful love, lovingkindness, or mercy”. Think of the countless Psalms where repeatedly the poet-singer declares, “The LORD is good and His khsed (mercy) endures forever”. Its one of the 13 attributes of God given in Exodus 34 and a trait that the Bible rarely attributes to people (Off the top of my head, I can only think of Ruth and David being called khsed). When I think of how God’s faithfulness is wrapped up in His love for me, it makes me smile and my soul sing! So keep smiling, Sunshine. And writing; you’re doing a great job. Our God is Faithful!
Thanks Senator 🙂 I love the insight you added to the thoughts of God’s faithfulness! Why am I sitting here trying to make this sound in the back of my throat??
